‘Pilgrimage Places in India’: watercolours by Hiroshi Shimazaki. Pilgrimage is a global phenomenon over time and space but perhaps India is the country where the tradition is most deeply rooted and widely practiced. Based on field sketches by a geographer/artist recorded during 16 visits spanning half a century, this watercolour exhibition offers an outsider’s impression of pilgrimage places in India. Opening reception Saturday November 9: 2pm-4pm. Show is extended to Dec 15th.
