Living near the Pacific Ocean and old cedar forests in coastal BC, I hope to convey my love and respect for nature and the spiritual sustenance it provides me through my oil and water-colour landscapes. My work is also informed by my knowledge and understanding of traditional composition and approaches in painting from Asia. I sign my paintings with my Chinese name, Baolan, or Precious Orchid, given to me by my Chinese brush painting. Although I use brilliant colour in most of my watercolours and cold wax/oil work, I attempt to incorporate elements of Asian ink painting.
Living near the Pacific Ocean and old cedar forests, hours wandering the trails and beaches inform my experience. I hope to convey my love and respect through my oil and water-colour
