Painting, for me, is an opportunity to play and explore aspects of myself and the world around me. Drawing upon meditation, music and nature, I enjoy creating layers of possibility, of mystery and depth.
Collaging materials, making marks, lifting, scraping – I play with acrylic paint, ink, found objects, sponges, paper, yarn, my grandmother’s crocheted doilies – whatever draws my attention. I react to what I see on the canvas, trusting my intuition and my knowledge of the elements of art and principles of design. I appreciate the freedom of abstraction and am always curious to see what each piece will reveal.
