Gerald became interested in gardening as a child. After graduating the Horticulture program from Algonquin College, he began a traditional bonsai apprenticeship in Takamatsu Japan & will always be indebted to the bonsai growers, friends & teachers for the knowledge, discipline & skills he acquired.
Gerald founded Shikoku Bonsai Canada in 1983 in Montreal, relocated to BC in 1987 & established a bonsai nursery outside of Vancouver & opened an outlet by Granville Public Market. In 1993 he relocated to Roberts Creek establishing a bonsai nursery focused on long term tending of quality trees.
