“Choral Gifts Concert” A Cappella Strait and Choralations Children’s Choir

This concert features choral works on a theme of the “Three Wise Men” and their gifts . Janice Brunson conducts A Cappella Strait and Choralations Children’s Choir. Tickets at Strait Music in Sechelt, The Blackberry Shop in lower Gibsons, and at the door.

Winter Harp Concert

a Christmas masterpiece. Velvet gowns, golden instruments, candles, backdrops of cathedrals and snow — it’s like visiting Christmases of long ago.

Classical and Celtic harps combine with flutes, violin/fiddle, rare medieval instruments, percussion, poetry and song to wrap you snugly in the silken cloak of Christmas.

In celebration of Canada Music Week, Sunshine Coast Registered Music Teachers present a student Recital featuring Canadian composers. St Hilda’s Church Sechelt. All welcome! Admission by donation.

Kevin Kenner, piano

Kevin Kenner’s achievements have won him critical acclaim throughout the world. He has been recognized internationally by prestigious awards: the top prize at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw and the Bronze Medal at the Tchaikovsky International Competition in Moscow, The Washington Post praises him as “an artist whose intellect, imagination and pianism speak powerfully and eloquently.”

His recordings include many acclaimed discs of Chopin works, as well as recordings of Ravel, Schumann, Beethoven, Paderewski and Piazzolla.

Suncoast Phoenix Choir presents the Mozart Requiem

We will be joined by soloists Sara Douglas (soprano), Shelley Dillon (alto), Nicholas Sommer (tenor) and Louis Dillon (bass). Our conductor will be Tom Kellough and our pianist Katherine Hume. Nigel North, lute; Les Voix Humaines, Consort of Viols

British lutenist Nigel North joins Montreal’s Les Voix Humaines Consort of Viols for a performance of
Lachrimae or Seven Teares, a rarely performed work for lute and viols, by the great English Renaissance composer John Dowland.
Les Voix Humaines was founded with the goal of taking a refreshing look at the huge repertoire for multiple viols. Nigel North is recognized internationally for his outstanding performances as soloist and ensemble musician. $30; students $10

Juno and Maple Blues Award winning guitarist is a solo acoustic artist with stunning virtuosity on guitar. His playing is influenced by earlyblues recordings and a love of old timey music, resulting in a variedrepertoire of original and traditional songs ranging from metal guitar driven hard edge blues workouts to softer dobro and banjo pieces.
