We’re pleased to present exhibiting artist Tam Harrington at GPAG on International Women’s Day, Friday, March 8, 4:30pm – 5:30pm for a slide show and talk about her exhibition, Fashion a Complex Relationship, running until March 10. Through her work, Tam has focused on various eras and specific women who made an impact to change the lives and empowerment of all women — women who have influenced and inspired her on a personal level and for her own style expression. Please join us for what promises to be a lively discussion!
This event is free and open for all to attend. Preregistration is not required. Enjoy!
Meet the artists Tam Harrington (Fashion, A Complex Relationship) and Linda Suffidy (Strata) Saturday February 17th from 2 pm – 4 pm. We hope you will join us for conversation and light refreshments. All are welcome!
Tam Harrington is an artist and educator living on the Sunshine Coast. She is a transdisciplinary artist whose practice includes installation art, research, collaboration, assemblage sculpture and painting, drawing, photography, ephemeral art, fiber arts, and performance.
Linda Suffidy is a Vancouver based artist who has exhibited throughout the lower mainland, in Edmonton, Kelowna, Bulgaria, and Dubai. The enormity of time past and contemplating the countless generations of life that have come into being are themes explored in Suffidy’s artistic practice.
Illustrating the complex relationship between fashion and women’s oppression, exploitation, and empowerment, local artist Tam Harrington uses recycled metal and plastics to create wearable metal art and sculptures. Each piece in this exhibition portrays a time period or a woman that influenced the artist and contributed to the empowerment of all women. All sculptures and wearable metal art are made from recycled or found metal or plastic items that are traditionally associated with the feminine.
Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, Feb. 17th, 2pm – 4pm for conversation and light refreshments. All are welcome!
