Slow Sundays — Stitching with Ursula Greiner

This season I invite you to come at noon and take advantage of the opportunity to learn from a local expert in knitting, spinning, stitching & dyeing. From 12-1 each Sunday we will welcome a local artist to lead a drop in help session for you to have the ability to ask questions and get hands on help in a particular skill… from 1- 4 the group will continue in a relaxed and social way for the rest of the afternoon. Participants coming from 12 – 1 will be asked to pay a $10 drop in fee for the experience.

Spin IN

last Thursday of the month to September 24 ~ no drop in fee requested this summer, as no tea or coffee will be provided this season for safety reasons ~

The Studio is home to the Sunshine Coast Spinners & Weaver’s Guild spin-ins on the . Spin Ins resume this month and continue through the summer, (September will be weather dependent). They will be held on the deck and/or in the Studio with doors/windows open to allow for social distancing and safety protocols to be upheld.

— Please bring a personal lunch and beverage as we will need to refrain from our coveted pot luck lunches until it is safe once more.

Slow Sundays — Organic Indigo Vat with Trisha Joel

Slow Sundays are resuming this Sunday July 5th and will continue through the summer, (September will be weather dependent) as we will have the opportunity to have distance between each other by enjoying our time together on the deck outside or in the Studio with doors/windows open to allow for fresh breeze.

Virtual Yoga on Tap!

Samantha Burke and Marlene Lowden are pleased to host this virtual yoga class and hangout on Saturday mornings at 9:30am! This class is a collaboration with Persephone Brewing Company because we’ve been teaching in their tasting room for the past 1 1/2 years! They are offering locals a discount on their beverage purchase for attending this class with us! We will announce the weekly discount code at the end of each class. Invasive Plant Removal at Malcolm Creek by SC Streamkeepers

Our monthly invasive plant removal event is happening the last Saturday each month, so please put on your calendars!

We also have some ferns to plant in place of the ivy, holly and laurel!

Please bring work gloves, eye protection, sturdy boots and small clippers if you have them.

DIRECTIONS:
We will be at the bottom of Metcalfe Road (follow ‘Beach Access’ sign off Lower Road).
We will meet on the bridge over Malcolm Creek .

SongShine – POSTPONED

Tuesdays to June 2, 2020. We offer an immersive, holistic and fun program that is based on the leading edge science of neuroplasticity and the brain’s ability to reorganize and change itself! By stimulating alternative brain pathways singing and music fortify both the singing and speaking voice. SongShine engages participants in a music therapy-based singing intervention that can significantly improve voice, respiratory control, and swallowing, while enhancing the quality of life for people that struggle with vocal atrophy due to aging, or any neurological challenges like Parkinson’s disease, Stroke, MS, CMT etc.

Song Circle

Odonata SongRise: A joyful participatory singing time for all ages. No experience required. All songs and parts are taught by the oral method of ‘call and response’. We sing songs from around the world and from song circle across North America

Full Moon Rising Drum Circles – 2020 – CANCELLED

To be held on each fine weather full moon of 2020, with gratitude within the Shishalh Nation. This is our 2nd Year. Casting so much gratitude, joy and love to all who have joined us and all who will this year! We gather to share our unique beats, to build community, to honour the healing and life-giving qualities of Luna and the health we can find in drumming, in pausing to appreciate and reconnect deeply to ourselves, our ancestors (whoever they be) and this magical place here within the Shishalh Nation. All drums, ages and experience welcome.

Life Drawing in Sechelt Sunshine Coast Arts Council – CANCELLED

2020 Life drawing in Sechelt every Tuesday to April 28th.
$15 from 10 till 1 under the big natural skylight. Poses start with one minute poses then we work up to final 2 poses of 30 minutes each, half hour lunch break at 11:25. Bring a small drop cloth if you use anything messy. All drawing levels are welcomed, easels, chairs, drawing boards provided.

Opportunity: Grants for Registered Charities

Sunshine Coast Community Foundation is pleased to invite grants for its 2020 Grants Program. The deadline for Letters of Intent is 5:00 PM on February 28, 2020. Grants of up to $7,500 are available for projects that support a variety of community needs. Grants of up to $40,000 for up to three years are available for initiatives that address housing affordability, food security, and mental health and addiction services.
