Sunshine Coast Art Crawl 2022

Oct 21-23. ‘The Crawl’ showcased artists on the entire Sunshine Coast from Langdale to Earls Cove or Earls Cove to Langdale.

Over the 3 days, the ‘Coast’ transformed into one large interactive art show. It is a celebration of displays, demonstrations and it provides an opportunity to meet the artists behind the amazing creations.

Opportunity: Daniel Kingsbury Music For Youth Endowment Fund Grants

Deadline Feb 18. Applicants may request funding assistance for opportunities such as music lessons, musical instruments, software, and/or electronic production, e.g. studio time or studio mentoring. Several grants of up to and including $500 will be offered. Open to Sunshine Coast youth ages 13 – 19 as of Dec 31, 2021 looking for financial assistance. Those who applied in the past may apply again.

Applications forms are availabe that may be completed by the youth themselves OR one to be completed by a nominator who would like to recommend a youth and represent them through the process, with the consent of the youth.

PR – Creative Writing – Old Places/New Ideas (Grade 8-12)

Mondays, 4:00pm-5:30pm, 8 sessions; January 17, 24, 31, Feb 7,14, 28, March 7, (spring break) March 28.

Onsite Creative Writing – Grab your pen and and your notebook. This is a weird and wonderful Creative Writing group for Grades 8-12.  Inspired by relevant and intriguing writing prompts, we will visit all the spooky corners of Historic Townsite and explore the world of creative writing.

Youth After School Drop-in – Movie

Ages 9-18.  Join us at the library every Tuesday from 3:00-5:00pm to hang out, work on homework, use a computer or iPad, or do a structured activity. We will rotate through different activities so there is something for everyone!

Opportunity: FIBRESHED – Slow Fashion + Climate Action

DEADLINE: December 17, 2021 at 4pm

If you are a youth aged 15 – 24 and are interested in rethinking your relationship to textiles while developing practical skills and exploring how to become involved in positive and fun climate action, then this program is for you. Over six months you will explore local fibres, experiment with dyes from local plants and mushrooms, learn visible mending techniques, explore sustainable fashion trends and experiment with repurposing material.
